Spring Has Sprung!
Spring is here!
(and also some super exciting announcements)
Coupling is hard. It is beautiful, essential, loving, connecting and freaking hard. The vision I have when couples first decide to pair for life is of a large field with two warriors coming together to meet in the middle of the field bearing their coat of arms.
Each coat of arms tells the history of the person; tells both spoken and unspoken rules of engagement, systems for operating, stories about how the world works that have been passed down from generation to generation. Each person comes together with the person they've chosen to unite with and ALAS! How can it be? That person has a coat of arms with rules and systems and stories, too! We're supposed to make this into one, you say? We're supposed to decide and figure out whose rules apply or create our own rules? Well kinda, yeah...that's sorta the whole thing, isn't it? And you know? People do it and most do it well. But then life happens. We have jobs and friends and families and children and money issues and, and, and...and sometimes we forget why we did this in the first place. We couple to create an "us" that feels safer and united in a world that is often harsh.
Last October, I set out on a mission to create a weekend long intensive workshop/retreat that would help couples remember why they chose each other. The retreat would help couples correct restore a sense of togetherness through exploration of themselves and their relationships. The first retreat was fantastic (read here). So fantastic, in fact, that I'm offering two new Commit to Connection couples retreats in Fall 2018. Both retreats will afford couples the space and time to truly examine what works in their relationship by participating in a combination of activities and games designed to enhance communication, trust and intimacy. We'll build on work by some of the most renowned therapists such as Stan Tatkin PsyD, MFT; Drs. John & Julie Gottman, Esther Perel and Dr. Sue Johnson. Both retreats also allow for some 1:1 time . I decided to offer two different retreats primarily because I found the most BEAUTIFUL location for a camping retreat but I also know not everyone digs roughing it. So to balance it, I found the most charming little B&B with great owners who are bending over backwards to make this retreat a success.
Connect in the splendor of a beautiful, natural setting in Rising Fawn, GA. While we're "roughing it" by sleeping in tents, you receive the same Commit to Connection programming with an emphasis on connecting in nature and with nature. Enjoy freshly prepared, home made meals, sitting creek side in a moment of reflection or walking the 6+ miles of trails on the property with your soul mate.
Spend the weekend with us at The Monteagle Inn & Retreat Center where you will be treated to true Southern hospitality while you relax and grow your relationship. Whether you choose to relax with a glass of wine in a rocking chair on the porch or take a hand in hand stroll on the famous Mountain Goat Trail, the location is perfect for inspiring romance and love.
So whether you're looking for an opportunity to connect with your love in a nature setting or prefer the luxury of a beautiful inn, there is an opportunity for you to recharge your relationship. If you've been together for 1 year or 41 years, you will find the value in setting aside ONE weekend for your love. Visit http://www.committoconnection.com for more information on both retreats and to register!
